In this video I tried to capture most of the steps I took to create my new Assembly Table for my shop. I lost a few videos and forgot to record a few steps, but I included after the fact photos of most of the build.
T-Track Tool Trolley
In this quick video, I show how I made my new adjustable Tool Trolley made with left over T-Track. I needed this little upgrade as I keep “acquiring” new tools and need a nice place to keep them 🙂

Changing the water in a FLUX laser
In this video I show you how to change the water in the coolant system in the FLUX lasers. I replace it in my Beamo, but the process is very similar for the Beambox and the Beambox Pro.
Replacing the laser tube in a FLUX Beambox laser
In this video I will show you how I replace the laser tube in my FLUX Beambox laser, this should also apply to the Beambox Pro.
I haven’t had to change the tube in my Beamo yet, but when I do I will make a video to show how to do it.
HackSI and making COVID-19 Face Shields
Updated: 04/13/2020 – Items in italic are new
My Files: hacksi-shield.zip
Based on: COVID-19-Plastic-Mask
Original Files: Facial mask Laser Cut (Covid-19)
Black Sheets: Amazon
Clear Sheets: Amazon
The video above is for our GoFundMe campaign that I am launching to help me make as many shields as possible for our local healthcare workers.
Design
I can’t take credit for the design of these files. After looking at these awesome options, I took the files and had a friend modify them to fit on 8.5″ x 11″ material. This allowed me to purchase the items for a very low price on Amazon.
The way I’ve laid out these files, if your laser can cut a full 8.5×11 sheet, you can make 2 masks with 4* pieces of material. One sheet of the black (straps) and three of the clear (2 shields and tops*). My FLUX Beambox can handle all of these files as they are. For the Beamo, I can only cut the face shield file without modification. An extra sheet of clear is required for the Beamo to complete these shields to accommodate for the smaller deck size.
FLUX BeamoThe current set of files do not all fully work on the Beamo. The cutting size is a little too small to cut all of these files as they are. You can either scale them all down just a bit. Or you can open the SVG files and split them into more files. This will cost more material but you can cut everything at full size.
The files in the zip have been updated to include working versions for the FLUX Beamo laser.
Instructions
I’ve also included in the zip an instructions sheet for assembling the masks. These can be printed and given to the healthcare workers so they know how to assemble the masks when they need them.

First Official YouTube Video is live
I’m a huge fan of Flux products.. I own a first and second edition of their Delta+ 3d printers as well as a Beambox. This week I received my Kickstarter reward of the new Beamo desktop laser and in this video I unbox it and do a basic setup and test etch on it. Check out the video below.
This is my first real YouTube video, so please be gentle with the comments 🙂
Adding a Rockler Drill Press Fence to a Ryobi Drill Press
I picked up a Rockler Drill Press Fence a few months back when it was on sale. It has been sitting in my shop gathering dust while I was recovering from my recent surgery. I had a little spare time in the shop while my laser was busy and I figured I could knock this one out pretty quickly.
I started out with half of my old homemade table saw cross cut sled. It was already 12″ x 24″ and was made from 3/4″ thick MDF. It also had a T-Track slot cut in it from the old sled. I also had the old Powertec T-Track pieces from the sled lying around the shop as well.
After a quick “dry fit” of the new platform I setup my router table with a 3/4″ bit, set the height to 3/8″ then set the fence to 3″ off center of the bit.
Once the table was set I made two runs on the table, one for each side. These T-Track runs are to attach the back side of the fence and allow it to be moved freely along the table.
Now that I had all three T-Track slots (one was existing from the old sled) I needed to cut down the second bar to fit into these new slots. So I grabbed a hacksaw and secured the track to my assembly table with my Kreg Bench Clamp. Then proceeded to trim this piece into the 4 pieces needed to mount into the table.
I then secured the T-Track to the table with the supplied screws and mounted the fence to the back side following the instructions in the book.
Once this was completed, I fit the table to my Ryobi Drill Press. After I was happy with the placement, I took a couple of 3/4″ wood screws and washers and attached the table through the holes in the underside of the drill press table.
At this point I went to test it and found a major flaw in this design. The adjustment handle for the table height could no longer turn as it hits the table.
So, I pulled out my trusty Ryobi Jig Saw and fixed the issue..
All in all, the entire process took me less than an hour. Even tho I already had the MDF pre-cut to 24″x12″ and one of the T-Track slots was already cut, that didn’t save me that much time. It’s still a pretty simple way to add a high quality Rockler fence to a Ryobi Drill Press.
Southern Illinois Heart Walk
Help me to help others!
Memorial Day weekend of 2019 I suffered a “heart attack like” event which sent me to the Emergency Room. After a couple of days at Heartland Regional in Marion it was determined that I had 4 blockages in one of my main arteries that totaled 75% blocked. These could not be stetted, so I was immediately transferred up to St Louis University Hospital and within a few days I had a Cardiac Artery Bypass Graft 1 (CABG1). I am now several weeks past this major, life-changing surgery and recovering one day at a time. If it wasn’t for the awesome doctors and nurses I wouldn’t be here today.
To give back, I’m walking in the next event and I need your help! Any donation can help!
So let’s kick heart disease’s ass!
I urge everyone that reads this to do your heart some good and please make a donation today!
